Paris is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world, packed with sights to see and culture to take in. As night falls, it remains a vibrant and eclectic place to visit with so many different offerings in an evening it would be impossible to sample all of them. From bars and clubs to shows and less traditional forms of entertainment, Paris is packed to the brim with wonderful locations for you to while away the hours in an evening. Whilst it’s almost certain that tourists will want to take in the Moulin Rouge show, we feel the French capital has so much more to offer. Using our guide to the Metro to traverse this sprawling city, here are five places you really should take the time to visit.

La Maroquinerie

La Maroquinerie is a concert venue that offers a unique setting for a wide range of different musical tastes. Whilst not catering for the sorts of headlining bands that fill stadiums, it brings some wonderful eclectic artists together in the 500-seat concert hall. In recent months Friendly Fires have been scheduled to play and Blood Red Shoes delivered tracks from their recent album Get Tragic. It’s also the venue for several specialised festivals. It’s even worth a visit if there isn’t a show on that particularly grabs you; the restaurant regularly welcomes talks, showcases and even private exhibitions.

Soiree Casino

Soiree Casino Not just a casino, but also a wonderful place to eat, the Soiree Casino is a great entertainment venue for those wanting to have a night playing games and relaxing. What’s really special is the tables can be rented by small parties too, so if you’re in Paris as a group you can spend the evening together in private, experiencing the excitement of a casino night but also imbue the French culture.

Theatre des Nouveautes

There are numerous theatres in Paris showing a multitude of different shows, but we’ve picked this one, opened in 1921. Several theatres used the name prior to the present building, with its origins being traced back to 1827. The current location is 24 boulevard Poissonnière and it shows a wide range of different productions. It’s currently showing the hilarious ‘How to Become a Parisian in One Hour’, by Olivier Giraud, and will be until May 2020. It’s a stand-up comedy show performed in English and is a wonderful insight into the idiosyncrasies of Parisian life.

Paris Elysees Club

Paris Elysees Club With its wonderful Art Deco ambience, the Paris Elysees Club is best described as a luxury venue in which to play a hand or two of poker. Whilst games such as Texas Hold’em and Omaha make up the bulk of it’s offering, there’s also a fine restaurant and various shows on throughout the year. Owner Pierre Perret suggested that the club, opened in 2018, is a viable option to online poker sites in the French capital. It’s looking to attract some of the online poker community, which is where many of the top players look to hone their skills before heading for a real casino. partypoker details how free games are available online that allow players to quickly get up to speed with the basic rules of the game. However, the Paris Elysees Club is living proof that many gamblers also like the sumptuous surroundings of a luxury casino as well as playing at home.

Jazz Club Etoile

Away from shows, casinos and rock bands, there’s a lovely slice of French jazz music available to visitors of Paris at Jazz Club Etoile. Rated by The Guardian as one of the top places to take in jazz in the city, it is a must-visit location for anyone into the soothing tones of jazz. It also offers soul and blues shows as well as boasting a restaurant with a wide variety of packages available for music lovers.
